A Charlotte man died at Jordan Lake late Saturday night, says the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a press release, 25-year-old Pradip Kumar Bjujel was reportedly fishing with friends when “he waded into the water and disappeared from view.” His friends contacted emergency services at 11:43 p.m., and his body was recovered by first responders, but he was unable to be revived.

“Our team is thoroughly investigating… the circumstances that led to this tragic event,” said Chatham County Sheriff Mike Roberson in a statement. “We extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Pradip.”

In addition to Chatham Sheriff’s deputies, officials from Chatham County Emergency Management, North Chatham Volunteer Fire Department, FirstHealth EMS, and the Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene.

It’s at least the second drowning at Jordan Lake this year after 16-year-old Bryan Guzman of Winston-Salem drowned there in late May.
