EDDIE RON BOGGS

Posted

Eddie Ron Boggs, 59, of Siler City went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at his home.

Ron was born in Alamance County on April 6, 1962, the son of the late Howard “Happy” Boggs and his surviving mother, Gail Crisson Boggs. On January 31, 2010, he married Wanda Jones Boggs who survives. He leaves behind his three children whom he adored: Travis Ron Boggs (Sarina), Hollie Boggs Stewart (Logan), Hanna Noel Boggs and his stepdaughter, Holly Thomas Sorenson (Cody). He is also survived by three sisters, Susan Boggs Stout (Marvin) of Graham, Cindy Boggs Allmond of Burlington, and Christy Boggs Deese (John) of Graham; his three step-granddaughters Lilly, Adeline, and Della Sorenson, and soon-to-be grandson, Cedar Wesson Burr.

Ron had a zest for life and his family but most of all he loved the Lord. He was a member of Emmaus Baptist Church in Pittsboro and was a 1980 graduate of Southern Alamance High School. He graduated from Piedmont Bible College with a degree in Seminary.

Ron owned RB’s Lawn Care service and was previously employed with Walter Kidde, Honda Power Equipment, Splawn Belting, Alamance County Parks and Recreation and the Alamance Burlington School System. Ron played basketball for Southern Alamance High School and in the mid to late 1980s was a member of the Saxapahaw Men’s softball teams coached by Buddy Collins, the Smith Trophy Burlington City Tournament Champions and Burlington-based Pirates Men’s softball team, which won World’s in US ASA, just to name a few.

He loved coaching recreation teams, local school teams, travel teams and anything sports-related along the way. He coached baseball, basketball, football, soccer and even cross country where he instilled the fundamental skills and work ethic he himself displayed. He loved the kids of Alamance and surrounding counties and he was so proud to hear that he had helped someone along their journey.

A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 3, 2021, at Emmaus Baptist Church located at 2430 Silk Hope-Gum Springs Rd., Pittsboro, N.C. The family received friends after the service at the church.
