SILER CITY — Mountaire Farms is partnering with hundreds of churches and non-profits in four states to provide complete meals for families in need at Easter.

Each Mountaire Cares box can feed a family of four. They are stuffed with a plump Mountaire roaster chicken, canned corn, peas and carrots, macaroni and cheese, apple sauce, mashed potatoes and gravy, and brownies for dessert. In addition to North Carolina, boxes will be distributed to groups from Delaware, Maryland and Virginia.

In Siler City, Easter for Thousands will be held on Friday, March 31, starting at 9 a.m. Employees and volunteers will be packing and distributing 5,000 meal boxes to pre-registered groups.

There will be no walk-ups for this event; all boxes are already reserved for families, churches and non-profits.

In Lumber Bridge, the Easter for Thousands event will be held on Saturday, April 1, at Power Point Church in Lumberton. Employees and volunteers will be packing and distributing 5,000 meal boxes to pre-registered groups.

“Easter is a season of hope and we’re so proud to be able to provide that to families in need this holiday once again,” said J.R. LaPearl, director of Mountaire Cares, the company’s charitable giving program. “Our employees really enjoy being a part of this effort to give back to the community.”

The Easter event is part of the company’s signature Meals for Thousands program which also feeds people at Thanksgiving and Christmas. This program, which began 28 years ago, has been successful because of community partnerships built through the years with so many outstanding local organizations.
