Here are scores and schedules for Chatham County high school athletics from Monday, Dec. 21 to Sunday, Jan. 3. This story will be updated throughout the week. (Note: due to a holiday layoff for most teams, this story includes events over the last two weeks as opposed to just one.)

Monday, Dec. 21

Cross country: Chatham Charter’s Brandon McKoy and Woods Charter’s Ellie Poitras placed first in the men’s and women’s five-kilometer races in a three-team meet alongside Chatham Central. The Knights won the men’s race on team points; the Wolves won the women’s race. Read full coverage here.

Volleyball: Cornerstone Charter swept Woods Charter, 3-0, in Chapel Hill (25-12, 25-9, 25-10).

Volleyball: Northwood at Southern Durham, 6 p.m. (match canceled)

Volleyball: In an in-county matchup, Chatham Central beat Jordan-Matthews, 3-1, in Siler City (25-15, 25-20, 14-25, 25-9). Senior Tanner Little had nine aces, and senior Savannah Stilwell and junior Taylor Poe tied for a team-high eight kills apiece.

Tuesday, Dec. 22

Volleyball: Undefeated Wheatmore swept Jordan-Matthews, 3-0, in a Siler City matinee match.

Volleyball: Chatham Charter swept Woods Charter, 3-0, in Chapel Hill (25-13, 25-16, 25-6). Standouts for the Knights, who moved to 5-2, included senior Morgan Lineberry (13 kills, five blocks), senior Breanna Spinks (12 kills, 16 digs) and junior Molly Wilson (12 assists).

Tuesday, Dec. 29

Volleyball: Trinity swept Jordan-Matthews, 3-0, in Siler City (25-13, 26-24, 25-18). The Jets have now lost six matches in a row.
