CHARLES ‘CHARLIE’ CARTER

Charles “Charlie” Carter, 77, of Aberdeen, passed away on Thursday, June 24, 2021, at First Health Hospice in Moore County.

A celebration of life service was held in the Chapel of Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home at 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 29, 2021, with Pastor Charlie Hickman officiating.

He was born in Cumberland County on January 17, 1944, to the late Joseph W. Carter Sr. and Annie Underwood Carter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph W. Carter Jr., a sister, Jackie Carter Coughenhour, and a set of twin boys, William Shane and Joseph Blane. Charlie was a N.C. Highway Patrolman for 15 years and ended his career in law enforcement investigating real estate fraud for the N.C. Real Estate Commission. He was recognized as Investigator of the Year in 1994.

Charlie is survived by his wife of 46 years, Janet Johnson Carter; daughters, Shannon Hall and Lauren Bass, both of Sanford, and Teresa “Terri” Hayter of Fayetteville; a son, Charles “Kevin” Carter of Charleston, S.C.; brother, Thomas “Tommy” Carter of Wake Forest; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.
